Chief John Machiskinic was born and raised in Yellow Quill, Saskatchewan, and is a father of four and grandfather to nine grandchildren.He spent 9 years as a Councillor for the nation from 2005-2014, and since 2014, has spent his last 12 years serving as Chief of Yellow Quill First Nation.

He has a deep love for traveling and enjoys meeting new people from all walks of life. His greatest passion is his community, and he is deeply committed to preserving and promoting his culture, language, and traditional ceremonies.

Chief Machiskinic cares not only for his own Nation but also for the well-being of neighboring First Nations. He is a strong and confident leader who places great trust in his staff and the people he serves. In his younger years, he was an avid baseball and hockey player, and he continues to enjoy watching both sports today.
